We painted all of our oak kitchen cabinets white back in this post… but you may remember that we left three sides of the kitchen island unpainted. Well, that’s because we decided to cover them with beadboard.
We bought a couple sheets of beadboard from the local home improvements store, along with some pieces of trim for the base of the island, and for the edges. All these pieces came primed so we just had to put a couple coats of the white cabinet paint on top.
The trim pieces were cut and nailed into the island, and the beadboard was cut to size to fit right on top of the trim pieces.
Ta-da! We filled all the nail holes and filled any spaces around the edges with caulking. Now we just need to add new counter supports to the kitchen island.

Your island looks great. I am going to do the same to my island so I loved that you gave the details.
